We went out tonight! Just the two of us, Kristen and myself. We left our kids with a baby sitter (the next door neighbor girl) and went to a piano recital by one of the music instructors at Colorado Christian University. I did not realize this at the time, but it was a piano concert done using only the left hand. Imagine that! The left hand is useful for something besides picking (or is it choosing?) your nose. Ha.
It was both entertaining and educational. In between playing pieces on the piano, she gave brief talks about the pieces and the reasons behind playing with only the left hand. The teacher found out about left-handed playing quit by accident, no pun intended. She took a fall down some steps in the music room and hurt her right hand. Due to the injury taking longer than expected to heal, she starting looking into left-hand only music. Apparently there around over 1000 pieces of music written for the left hand, while only 60 or so for the right. Interesting! comments
